Seventeenth Century Charity in Trentham

During the later seventeenth century Sir Richard Leveson (1598-1661) and his wife Lady Katherine established a number of charitable funds in Trentham to provide for poor people and widows. In the 1670s Lady Katherine began the Foxley Charity which had an important impact on the lives of widows in Trentham into the nineteenth century. Sir Richard and Lady Katherine also left money in her will to provide schooling for poor boys living in the Parish.
