The Lodge Porter’s Books

Amongst his many responsibilities, the Lodge Porter at Trentham Hall was entrusted with overseeing the distribution of bread and beer to poor travellers who passed by the Hall. Details of this philanthropic work are recorded in the Lodge Porter’s Books for Trentham Hall from the nineteenth century.
