Foreign Travels
George Granville, the third Duke (1828–1892), was active in national and international politics during the late nineteenth century. He hosted Garibaldi on his visit to England in the 1860s and also travelled to America, Canada and India where he was part of the Prince of Wales’s Royal Suite.
The Sutherland Papers contain a variety of documents telling us about the third Duke’s travels in India, America and Canada, including the Duke’s personal observations on his time abroad.
