Commercial Culture
Owing to their wealth and elevated social position, the Leveson-Gower family enjoyed a luxurious lifestyle which included the best and most modern products commercially available. The Sutherland Papers contain many examples of commercial culture from the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries, including advertisements for alcohol, confectionary, clothing and many modern household names.
